Umbrir

Umbrir

The Umbrir are one of the oldest races in existence, originating from Kaela, the origin planet. Ancient, winged, and near-immortal, they are known across many worlds by different names: Keepers, Travelers, Seekers, Founders, Hoppers, and the Winged Ones among them.

Appearance

Umbrir are humanoid in shape, with pale or white scales covering most of their body, transitioning to darker shades along the back. Their most distinct feature is their four wings, which are dark — typically deep purple-black in color. Their hair is black. Their eyes are vivid and luminous. While they look broadly human at a glance, their scaled skin and four wings mark them immediately as something else entirely.

Biology and Lifespan

Umbrir possess what is described as passive immortality — they experience time as mortals do, but cannot die of natural causes. Most Umbrir alive at the time of the story are several centuries old, with some elders predating all current civilizations.

Culture and Society

Most Umbrir reside on Xav, a melting pot trade planet, or on Terradine. They hold to oaths of non-interference with developing planets and their civilizations. Violating these oaths is considered a profound betrayal among their kind.

They travel between worlds using runestones and Adamantium.

Role in the Story

When the Umbrir Vekka betrayed his oaths and began influencing the northern demigods of Camp Mythborn to move south and conquer Earth, the elder Umbrir acted. Kal and Karthas were dispatched to Earth to help the demigods of Camp Ironsoul resist and survive the coming conflict.

Known Umbrir

  • Karthas — dispatched to Earth alongside Kal
  • Kal — dispatched to Earth alongside Karthas
  • Vekka — rogue, broke the oaths; aligned with Victor Cran and the northern demigods
